  • Red Line lead substitue is designed for use in engines which require leaded fuels including autos trucks farm equipment outboard motors and race engines which suffer from excessive valve seat wear and piston scuffing when operated on low-lead or unleaded fuels. Many engines designed for leaded fuel can fail in as little as 60 hours when operated with inadequate levels of lead. Even engines with hardened valve seats may fail when operated under high load conditions without lead. When used as recommended Red Line Lead Substitute can provide the protection of high-lead gasoline and will not damage catalytic converters. This product functions by depositing a sodium oxide coating on the valves which prevents metal contact just as lead oxides coated the valves. Sustained full-load operation or lean combustion may require 1.5 to 2 ounces per 10 gallons.
